Timex, blue dial

Every collection needs the watch you do not think about. This is that watch: a quartz Timex with Indiglo, thirty metres of water resistance and a CR2016 cell in the back, and it will keep better time than everything else on this site put together without ever being interesting about it.

That is not a backhanded compliment. Indiglo — the whole dial lighting up rather than a smear of lume on the hands — was a genuinely good idea that nobody has improved on, and a watch you can wear into the sea without a second thought earns its place next to one you cannot.
